Space for Kidz represents a long-term commitment by the City of Kent and the Kent Downtown Partnership—in collaboration with Washington State’s space industry—to educate and inspire the children of Western Washington in the passionate pursuit of STEM education through digital technology and experiential play at a space-themed park. The "Space Park" launched the Space for Kidz app at their opening event.
In a multidisciplinary and diverse team, I had the opportunity to take on the roles of graphic and UX/UI designer.

Research on developmental stages, along with a deep understanding of the client's brief and vision for the project, was key to determining user avatars, the visual identity, app instructions, and user flow.
The missions in the app are related to different areas of the "Space Park" and its play pieces.

Information architecture diagram and task flow example: Flow diagrams were created for every task in the app.

User experience storyboards, like the example here, helped the team and the client understand the user journey across all interactions within the app, as well as with the play pieces at the park, to which the AR experiences correspond.

The primary color palette was derived from the Space for Kidz project logo provided by the client. I also created a supporting palette for background use and a neutral palette to add versatility.

With the help of AI, the team brainstormed a character to guide the kids through the AR experiences and teach them about space. I took the ideas and illustrated it in Adobe Illustrator and Figma.

Wireframes like this one, along with many rounds of revisions and iterations, were created before moving on to the creation of high-fidelity prototypes and illustrations.

I defined the illustration style and proceeded with creating buttons for each mission in the Space for Kidz app, the main pages of each mission, scenes for animations, and instructions.
